Today's association with his grace Kalakantha Prabhu

Hare Krishna.
Today in folk BTM hostel, we were fortunate to have association of his grace Kalakantha Prabhu and his grace Vainetaya Prabhu. His grace Kalakantha Prabhu took morning Bhagvatam class on 1.8.24 verse. By his mercy, we were able to hear words full of nectar and enlightenment out of which I would like to share here few that I noted down :
This verse belongs to the chapter called prayers offered by Kunti maharani.
i) So, Prabhu was explaining the context of this verse how Duryodhana caused so much tribulations to Pandavas but got defeated in the war that took place on the holy place of Kurukshetra. So, Duryodhana was lying down with his hip broken and Asvatthama in order to please Duryodhana went in Pandavas camp and beheaded Pandavas sons thinking them to be Pandavas and came to offer their head to Duryodhana. Duryodhana did not approve of this heinous act of Asvatthama and left his body in lamentation. Then, Arjuna caught hold of Asvatthama and presented him in front of the assemply of pandavas and Krishna. Since there was difference of opinion among pandavas so Arjuna asked Krishna to decide the punishment for Asvatthama. Krishna very intelligently advised to cut out precious mani and shikha from Asvatthama head as this will be as good as cutting the head and in this way his life will also be spared as requested by Draupadi.
ii) Asvatthama in order to take revenge released Brahmastra for killing last descendant Parikshit maharaj who was in Uttara's son so Uttara came to Krishna praying for her son's protection then Krishna entered into her womb and shielded Parikshit from Brahmastra attack.
Seeing Krishna again coming for their rescue, Kunti Devi in humility started offering prayers to Lord Krishna and started narrating how Krishna saved them from past tribulations.
iii) Prabhu narrated another incident how Arjuna was like a small wish up against the giants fishes like BHisma, Dronacharya, Karna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra but because Krishna was present on Pandavas side, so , the victory was assured.
iv) LESSON- Then, Prabhu explained how we should be gracious in our life for this Krishna conscious life. Even materialistic people are now started to understand the importance of showing gratitude as Prabhu shared the findings of one research work where it was colcluded that those who shows gratitude on daily basis are 25% more happy in their life, less depressed, fully active and enthusiastic.
So, we should keep recollecting our past lives memories and see how our life has been changes, how the habits, bad associations that we were having in our past life has now been completely transformed because we recieved the causeless mercy of Srila Prabhupada. So, this will help us to develop appreciation for guru and krishna. As the saying goes:
"GRATITUDE INSPIRES DEVOTIONAL SERVICE."
Then prabhu narrated the glorious life of his grace Madhu Pandit Prabhu how Prabhu being very sharp minded and intelligent from start cleared NTSE scholarship exams and IIT and was fond of physics and Einstein's theory of relativity then reading that evrythhing is relative to each other prabhu started pondering if everything is relative in this world then what is absolute and through physics he started his quest for absolute truth and after literally finishing all the physics books of his IIT library, he became frustrated and in his disappointed he thought of suicide and thus wrote suicide note but then on that particular day he thought of visiting library once again but different section and there he found a book with a bluish boy cover photo standing with a girl of golden, white complexion. The book was Krishna, the supreme personality of godhead. Then, he opened that book and read the last chapter, the prayers offered by Vedas personified and he came to conclusion that Krishna is the absolute truth. Then, he saw who is the author of this book and found Prabhupada and thus he went on reading all the books of our dear Srila Prabhupada and since Prabhupada saved his life on that day, so he decided that he will dedicate his life to Srila Prabhupada.
Today, MPP prabhu, president of Iskcon Bangalore and head of GBC is a source of inspiration for all of us.

Thank you Prabhu for this enlightening class, we feel fortunate to have your blissful association and would keep on seeking more and more such associations in future.

Prabhu responsible for cleansing of temple and facility department.. Background work.thankless job..but still serving for more than 9 years..various temples like chennai, hyderabad, vrindavan, now Bangalore.
So prabhu's journey..engineering.. Then isro selected..same time iskcon visit sunday evening..with friend..harinam mandap chanted 1 round..some cleansing felt..then narsimha aarti on narsimha jayanti..amazing experience..full spiritual vibration..main Temple vibrating... Then someone just asked if he can do some service..and he just said yes..then some prasadam laddos to keep near krisnamrita kitchen..and then to distribute it ..so this way he did for more than 2-3 hours the service..thus lots of cleansing happening inside...so this way he was telling he has to choose between cricket and folk and slowly he started choosing folk each time..thus temple coming became part of his life..
Once some senior devotee asked prabhu whats your future plan? Prabhu got scared stopped coming to temple..then that prabhu called him telling dont worry..come at least and do KC...Krishna will inspire you from inside.
His main focus was-
Service and chanting should go parallel because service will cleanse the heart (eg paduseva will cut false ego) and make the mind n senses less agitating this we can hear more attentively.
Hearing is required... Bcoz by chanting we are invoking Krishna's incoming but if suppose he is outside door but we are not opening it then whose fault is this. So, we have to receive him in form of sound vibration and then Krishna can enter our heart and do miracle.
Other's process not that effective like yoga,meditations bcoz this one is only the authorized on for this age...kali kale naam rupe krsna avtara.

For service like preaching..we need enthusiasm, eagerness ...but how? Homework..sadhana strong, reading strong, hearing lectures.
Two sounds ..two hearing , speaking inside mind..one is maya consciousness and other is KC...
So our spiritual intelligence can keep our mind and this senses engage in KC else they will be dragged towards maya consciousness..so to stop this internal sound of contamination of mind , we have to keep our consciousness on spiritual platform by developing spiritual intelligence... Sadhana, association.

Association is important- eg once prabhu was feeling dull few days ago and could not focus on his chanting so he went to some devotees association who were chanting very seriously in an erect position and immediately that desire or enthusiasm came to him from inside and he felt inspired to chant attentively.
Story of king chasing deer..deep i jungle alone..tired..found parrot..king is aline kill him, catch him..felt decoits are nearby rab and came to one Hermitage ..another similar parrot..telling welcome.he asked how? Parrot replied he is my brother but because he is brought up in decoit association so he is trained that way but me this way.

Some job offer if comes.. Nice package but work as well..what to do..?
1. Seek guidance from folk guide or senior devotees, share with them bcoz they have experience more than you and they have faced these situations so they can guide you.
Plus remember nothing in this material...what is material?.that which is separate from Krishna so just connect to krishna and it will become spiritual.
Like 1st class service to krishna is full time but in yoga ladder 12 th chapter krishna says that if not full surrender you can so partial ones like 4 regulative principle already following so add 1 more in it..that is offering results to krishna that way it will be spiritualized.

Narada muni...few times he ate remnants and all sins gone..full devotee..but we eating fro. Such long time..still no effect.
Krishna prasadam has same potency but Bcoz our mind is also strong..so the change is not happening immediately.

So narada muni initiated so many pure devotees...dhruva, prahlada, vyasdeva..
So SP is same for us...we have been given this opportunity to become pure devotees and we can go back in this life only if we just become aware of this mercy ...this gift that how fortunate we are ...outside so large population but devoid of KC livibg terrible animalistic... But we only few but prabhupada's blessing..now service and devotees.

Suppose I am satisfied in whatever position i am in currently...then is it fine?
No, just like if i am studying jn class 1 and i feel satisfied then how will i get PHD degree no i have to advance to class 2, 3.....10, 12 . so, eagerness is required in devotional life otherwise we cannot advance. There are devotees who are coning to temple for 10-15 years but still jo seriousness because they are satisfied in whatever stage they are. So ,there progress is hampered.

But does it mean one has to be always dissatisfied to do KC.
No, satisfaction is the key to our further practice. If we are not getting satisfaction here then we will leave ...so satisfaction is required but for further advancement that hunger or eagerness also required.

In service ..we should follow authority as it is..once MPP gave task to a devotee and he faced some impediments could not complete so he asked MPP about this...MPP replied di you followed as it is. He cross checked the list and found one step missed..then he followed same and accomplished that task. As it is bcoz authority is more experienced.
Devotee qualification ...humble and meek bcoz if rebelous , then there is more struggle in Progress.

If some impediments coming in devotional service...and our mind occupied with anxieties or thoughts related to that...it us good because this way mind not thinking of maya.

So, feeling very low, lazy, dull.
Means maya's influence is high..so we should check all this by determined sadhana and thus with intelligence we can control mind and senses as krishna said in BG.

All service on same level..no higher or lower degree..it is said that service rendered by radha and a cow is of same degree only the type of relationship is deferred.

Acharya compare this material world like ocean...from a distant it look attractive but the moment you go inside its very precarious place..very very dangerous.

So thakur mentions..
The first thing he gets confronted is -tidal waves
3 miseries -adibhautik, adijaivik, adhyatmic.
So, he gets tired , frustrated from this struggle..this tribulations so he drinks this water ..which is salty..material sense gratification... But it actually increases his thirst instead of quenching.
Then he tries to mingle with aquatic animals..that is octopus, sharks etc which are compared to relatives.
So afterwards he tries to save himself from this situation...catching some straw in ocean... That is karma kanda..
The only hope we have..is strong boat which can lead us towards destination... That is KC boat..and the captain is spiritual master because he knows the path.

So, prabhu life..why should u take KC?
Young age, handsome, nice salary..but nowhere he found security..freedom from material struggle..tides kicking.

Jadabharat to rahuguna-
Sense gratification 3 attributes:
1. Kama madhulubhana- yes there is happiness but it very insignificant.
Ex. Zen master meditation camp..observing fast then grape plate came to break the fast..so everybody disciplines waiting for master's order but he came and said you can take just one grape..so it does not satisfy our thirst.
2. Very big sacrifices to gain this happiness. Big big arrangements.
Lots of examples like private jet to get some fried chicken from africe, a rixh person from Britain do this...just for insignificant happiness.
3. Reactions? Very significant price one has to pay.
Suffer in so many planets..which you cant avoid.

1. Stika prabhu telling once..the reason why we fell down in this material world-
We are like glowworms..so the light of glowworms is nothing in comparison to Krishna's effulgence so it has to go to some dark place. So with our little free will we have come to this dark world to enjoy that little happiness.
2. 3 class of intelligent ppl-
We come in the third/4th class (rupa goswami).

KC is very very simple...but the amount of happiness one gets is like an ocean in comparison to material world rasa..parthiva rasa.

3 things required to Btg as promised by srila prabhupada- chant, read books, 4 rules.
2 inch less in damodara leela- 2 inches depict 2 things required to control krishna- free will, krsna mercy.

Inspiration examples -4 do's
1. Chataka ..drinks only from rain not any source.
2. Swan- can differentiate between..can separate good from others and not get contaminated.
3. Parrot- repeat as it is whatever listen.
4. Fish- continuously swims and breaths also. So without mind getting wavered just hears. Hearing itself is so pwerful will bring all the transformation.

4 don't s
1. Wolf- howling..after puffed up howls some devotees.. So no hauling.
2. Crow- nice garden may be there..still goes to the garbage...associate with materialistic people..who plans for sender gratification.
4. Bull- goes one to other. Now iskcon tomorrow shri shri.
5. Camel- eat thrones..thinks it gives pleasure.

Prabhupada asked why you want sex..why sex desire?
Because you want to have it. You last your relationship with krishna..so you go for alternative.
Same for marriage, for children. Then , want to show this to others..like FB etc.
So today take wow..increase your KC. Otherwise this life is very small. Everyday we get more close to finish line that is death.

CPP class on science n spirituality

Abbreviations used:
SP- srila prabhupada
1. Sp means Absolute Truth (AT)
There is a difference between on AT and god. Two not on same same level.
By vedic describe god as ishvara- controller..different level of controller.
Absolute truth- param satya, tatva, vastu, ultimate source of everything..that is Vedanta is about etc.
Veda -knowledge.. Concept of god
Vedanta- end of knowledge.. Much higher concept..absolute truth.

So mentioned about cause..
It is human nature to look for cause in every matter..this present in animals too but it is much more developed, pronounced in human...we want to know the root cause..going beyond the immediate cause.
Eg Newton wanted to know the cause why apple fell?
So the quest for cause is there in human beings..and the more we try to quest for cause..the more we are highly developed beings.
Another aspect- multi level cause. eg
Some successful businessman give different-2 reasons for their success.
But actually there are 5 factors in success/perfection-
Sankhe kirtante proktani- this is vedanta, Vedanta explains this..
1. Situation
2. Doer
3. Chestha
4. Instruments
5. Daivam- supreme will
Nobody talks about 5th. Eg
13 lacs iit, how selected?
In those 12 lacs..4 factors you can find..
The world is designed like that..the empirical formula is like that 4 causes are talked.
Eg. Pandavas discussing cause of their victory.. Everybody started arguing.. Krsna then stopped them..barbaric..son of bhim..
Who has blessings that he can view the war again..he saw whole..then said 18 days..a bug chakra brilliant light..was vanquishing everywhere.. So krsna is the cause bt all pandavas are devotees so he made them do this argument.
So this world forgets the 5th.

Eg2 child saw father raising a big table..child loved to see that..then he one day trying to lift up..could not lift up.
So mother said u drink horlicks
Grandmother daily practice
Grandfather daily wake up.
Everybody amused what this child would do.
Then one day father hiding..and helped from his hiding way..the child finally lifted..and happily said..mother horlicks, grandmother daily practice.. Etc did.
So daivi shakti works like that. The world makes you forget the 5th cause.
Cause , its cause and its cause and goes on..the phenomenal world is complex world of cause and its causes interlocking one other..so Vedanta is about the ultimate cause.
Just like daiva cause is missed out by empirical ...similarly ultimate cause is missed out by science.. Just like gravitational is found as a cause but what is its cause..but still not found..although this one cause gravitation has changed our lives..lots of technology advancement.
Newton said i want to know why god created ..what is his thoughts.. That is the ultimate thing..rest are just details.

2. Stephen Hawking : Theory of everything- unification theory..
Elli gent that everyone can understand and discuss...then we can know what is in God mind...
So both statement point to same things

3. What is cosmological theory of creation- we say the big bang theory. Somewhere in timeline big explosion.
So inquisitive persons can ask..where did this bang occurred?
Learn more about the big bang theory..
An equation with T variable..find T.
So, at T=0 , singularity.. Cant find solution.
So scientific assume T. But space not there, energy not there.
Very bewildering question?
1929 big bang came..before that steady state universe theory.

4. Prof lisa randol - knocking doors of heaven. Cosmology.
Planar world ant.
Sphere is circle for ant..
Similarly higher dimension object is 3D for us.

Now, Vedanta trying to find out the ultimate cause..recognizes that human has limited cognitive power. So, with this limited cognitive power..all the science.

Why we should be bother about ultimate cause?
Example..prabhu getting money from a brown uniform man in hostel life...i recognize him as great..and not recognizing the father who is depositing the money..i am a fool.
So , until we recognize the ultimate cause..we don't know the glory of our ultimate father.
Eg mother/father's day..to remember them..but they are the intermediate cause..nature is the adhisthana cause..has its affects..like this there are multiple causes..and the causes has their causes..and then there is an ultimate cause vedanta says...its not on this plane but on higher level..not on mundane level..called param brahman param dham..
Just like we know our father/mother as our cause...if we know about ultimate cause..we can know his glories. The quest or thirst or ability to recognize the higher causes is the signature of enlightenment of living being. So, krsna says bahunam janmanam..krsna is cause of everything.. That one recognizes about after many, many births.

Just like we put faith (without any basis) that our mind, body, senses can give us knowledge..the Vedanta says that there is knowledge beyond all this..that cones from descending form..that there is absolute truth..which is transcendental to all mundane things.
So, cause must have all the attributes of everything..otherwise how he can give that cause..so ultimate cause have all attributes and he is a person..krsna.BG, SB helps us understand these aspects.

Includes Making/breaking habits-
1.Seeing
(OPSA- objects, people and situations)-creates mapping in mind-develops perceptions. Eg today having class..perceptions of situations.
Add A-actions, OPSA...make it more clear.
So, it is mapping of outside world into our mind.
. Situations- static situations or dynamic.

2. What do we do with this mapping?
So, in mind we do processing on OPSA.
In mind 3 pleasure boxes-
1. Pleasure-prasad, attractive women on street..so your attention rises as soon as you encounter this.
2. Neutral-most of the objects like walking past the door everyday
3. Pain-exam.

Pleasure beliefs
Belief? Personal statement of truth..for me it is truth. Everybody's belief maybe different.
Pleasure belief = Relating with OPSA gives me pleasure... So many relationships are there.
Pleasure experience means- pleasure for body-sensual pleasure
, mind- positive emotions
Intelligence- meaning pleasure
, ego- power, freedom, fame, honor
.....soul- serving supersoul
Soul is self...others are sub selves..so if that control comes..it is called self-control.
Who am i? Servant of Krishna..so the pleasure that you are controller or your sub selves..that pleasure is desirable...devotees should feel this pleasure..its higher pleasure...and later on you will understand that krishna is actually helping..so we will get enlightened.
Thus knowledge is very precious..nowhere you will find in any books...then you will understand the maya scam.

Desire- desirability is not equal to pleasurability of OPSA...eg u know sweet is pleasurable but when u walk across the sweetshops everyday you does not feel watering everyday.
Desirability box- you put some from pleasurable box into desirable box.
Its a smaller box. Subset of pleasurable box.

Pleasure means
P- power.
I- intellectual
L- love
S- sensual

When you encounter an object of desirability?
You look. So subconscious always try to look and locate what is there in desirability box. Example- opposite sex.
When you encounter anything from your desirability box, you get little drops of pleasure..and it is conditioned..that depends..its actually hope for pleasure.
4 Behavior...
LOOK- locate- pleasure drop 1
SEARCH- find- pleasure drop 2
CHASE- capture- talk, chase- pleasure drop 3.
INDULGE- pleasure -pleasure drop 4.
4 cycles that mind goes through with respect to any object in desirability box.

Ex.1. Animal- hunt.
2. Examination to score high

In opposite sex. PILS are there..all in one
Why L? Priti
Subconsciously it has been pasted..since childhood as mother gave more love than father.
I- pleasure discovery...chit pleasure..intelligence pleasure ...eg want to see naked. Society did not give this..so it is put in pleasure box..to discover how does it look.
Power pleasure.... My GF..not yours..keep distance.
So it is a bomb... All is there.

This is nothing knew...everybody happening ..we just learning what is happening..why need?
So if you want to learn self control..you need to know the inside the mechanism. So, if some fault is there..you can correct it. So , today what is happening inside..what is pleasure..Now you can know then become expert by practice..
But free will is there..
Some times we want to control..but we dont know the button..or ignorant.. Thats why todays class.

Pleasurability not equal to desirability..how?
With respect to desirability.. There is one thing which is yours and which is not yours. Your money when you open wallet..you don't hanker..or desirability..so control is there in you...character.
But in case of opposite sex...no control..2 drops i want...look locate and search find is free for all..modern system trained us like that..our brahmachari systwm was not like that..so no peace instead always getting frustrated ..bcoz half cycle completed only..look and search..no chase, indulge...so no peace of mind...thats why we were not bothered by this 10 years ago..so much focus in studies.

Self-control principle 1
Break the equation..that
Pleasurability = desirability
Free will should come in between.
Eg in money you can bring self-control in case of money as if nobody is there and 1 lac is there we don't take it because it has a owner...then why not in case of opposite sex.
Its not restraining our free will..but giving a free will..as we can have peace of mind..then can focus only. Mind telling pleasurability equal to desirability but we have to exercise our free will.

Self control rule 1- we have to exercise this free will.

Now new thing
Every pleasure is in brain..then by science it is neurochemical...there is actually a chemical that gets dropped..pleasure chemical associated with success..because that chemical go into blood stream you feel pleasure.
Pleasure experience is caused by neurochemical phenomena.
From tomorrow on-wards you practice..your free will in between your desirability.clean your desire box.

Suppose somebody believe all pleasurable is actually desirable..because i don't have it..so its not desirable now. The moment it comes or opportunity comes ,it become desirable
But this attitude opposite to attitude 2.
By destiny god has not given this...so why would i waste my desire energy..when it will come then i will desire.
So it may take 6 months..but you clean up.

Western philosophy..
Maximizing sense pleasure.. Only if u bitten up don't take else take.
